In the Wake
Welcome to In the Wake with Whytli! I am a certified life coach and a mental health advocate. I am also a survivor of sexual and mental abuse. The phrase 'in the wake' means the ‘result of something occurring’ and I originally started this podcast as a result of my story and everything I have overcome. I continuously choose to rise up from the trenches and speak up about these various taboo and stigmatized topics. I choose empowerment, growth, and empathy. As I continue on my healing and self growth journey, I will use my voice to share my truth and insights along with amplifying the voices and stories of others. I interview guests whose messages have resonated with and inspired me. Tune in for weekly episodes on all things mental health, survivorship, and self help!!

Episode 82
Last year, I had a breakthrough in therapy that led me to realize just how self critical and perfectionistic I was. After coming to terms with the suffering I was creating for myself, I began to work through a Self Compassion workbook during my therapy sessions. This workbook teaches the three components needed to build a self compassionate voice: mindfulness, common humanity, and self kindness.
In this solo episode, I relay some key things I have learned along the way on my self growth journey. I dive deeper into the following:
- A Valentine's message
- My breakthrough in therapy surrounding self compassion
- Self compassionate motivation and perfectionism
- 3 components of self compassion: mindfulness, common humanity, and self kindness
- Rephrasing the narratives of your inner critic
- Finding your self love language
